We got tired of waiting.
We got tired of latency and stuttering. We got tired of video-based streaming, which can't fully deliver because it's sending the wrong type of data. Building a better pipe with more bandwidth doesn't solve the problems caused by using a 30 year old image-based technology to deliver today's rich interactive content.
So we imagined a better way to stream the data.
Primal Space is a group of innovative thinkers and builders with the unique skillsets that enabled us to develop the barrier-breaking GPEG (Geometry Pump Engine Group) technology. GPEG is poised to deliver latency-free, interactive 3D content without compression and without compromising on resolution. It's an entirely new streaming platform with disruptive implications for the ways companies deliver and end-users consume the rich 3D data of real and virtual environments.
We imagined it. We're building it and we can't wait to share it.
Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Dr. Jenkins holds a doctorate in medicine from Harvard University, where he became interested in computational models of human vision, leading to his interest in computer graphics, and how a 2D image is constructed from a known 3D representation.
In 1994 Jenkins developed 3D geometry processing and translation software that has been licensed to entertainment and industrial clients including Lucas Arts, Blur Studios, and Northrop Grumman. Subsequently, Barry developed the conceptual and technical framework underlying the GPEG visibility event protocol and has implemented the core components of the GPEG encoder in C/C++.
Jenkins is a diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Association of Computing Machinery and the International Neural Network Society.
Chief Technical Director & Co-Founder
Prior to joining Primal Space, Mr. Scott was a senior engine programmer at Epic Games, headquartered in Cary, North Carolina. He was a generalist technology programmer during the era of Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, and Infinity Blade, where he created and maintained the audio system, build system, localization, and many of the associated tools. Before joining Epic Games, John moved from England to Madison, Wisconsin to work for Raven Software where he worked on various technological improvements to the Quake 4 engine, and many aspects of both Soldier of Fortune games. He also played a role in the development of the Star Trek and Star Wars games.
Mr. Scott received his Bachelor of Science with honors from Imperial College in London, England, and is an Associate of the Royal College of Science.
Chairman & Co-Founder
Internationally renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Solomon C. Luo serves as Chairman and Co-founder of Primal Space Systems, Inc. Dr. Luo, received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, and completed his residency at Temple University. He is a diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Philadelphia College of Physicians and member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is the founder and CEO of Progressive Vision Institute and the president of Progressive Surgical Institute.
He has lectured throughout the United States and Asia, performing live phacoemulsification cataract surgery before an audience of thousands of ophthalmology colleagues
Often noted to be a “visionary”, Dr. Luo has co-founded Philadelphia Commercial Bank and Lynthera Vision Research, Inc. He is a partner of Acorn Taiwan VC, Shenandoah Properties, Inc., and Regents Points Properties Inc. Dr. Luo also is the owner of King Solomon Vineyard in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Luo has served on the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and is currently a Trustee of Temple University. Additionally, he serves as a governing board member of Temple University Health System and Fox Chase Cancer Center and Hospital.
Operations Manager & Scrum Master
Mr. Flanigan started his software career in the early 1990's working with Dr. Jenkins to develop 3D geometry processing and translation software. After selling the source code of this software to a 3D content development company called Acuris, Inc. in 1995, he was hired by them to continue the development and expand the capabilities of the software. In 1998, he was hired by Autodesk as a software developer and worked on the development of various products including Actix Technical, Architectural Studio, and the DWF Viewer. In 2001, while still at Autodesk, he began managing teams of developers as a project manager and later as a program manager. In 2013, Mr. Flanigan became a Certified Scrum Master and helped to introduce the Agile Scrum process methodology to a group of ten scrum teams at Envisage Information Systems, a member of the TIAA-CREF group of companies. In 2014, he introduced, trained and coached the first Agile Scrum development team in Volvo Trucks North America and successfully led the team to design and develop a new digital driver display for their instrument panel. Jim is currently the Scrum Master and Agile coach for the Primal Space Development team.
Software Developer & Co-Founder
Before making the switch to C++ development, Matthew worked as a Product Engineer for Analog Devices, Inc's next generation transceiver group where he was the primary engineer responsibly for testing and evaluation of the real-time quadrature-error correction algorithms controlled by the transceiver's embedded micro-processor. His major contributions to the group's transceiver development included a novel automated hardware and software RF testing apparatus, which allowed for high levels of test repeatability and reliability and greatly shortened software release and debug cycles.
Matthew is an avid gamer and is excited to be part of the next step in evolution of game and geometry streaming technology.
Mr. Haentschke received his Master of Science in Microwave Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. His research focused on Sub-Terahertz LNAs and coupling structures for use in short-range radar applications.
Software Developer & Co-Founder
Charles West is a graduate student working on his Computational Intelligence PhD at NC State University and a full time C++ developer at Primal Space Systems. He is the chair of the Eastern North Carolina IEEE Robotics and Automation chapter and chief organizer of the 2016 IEEE RoboResearch event.
Prior to joining the Primal Space team, he developed drone technology for NC DOT's Next Gen Air Transportation research group including a state estimation system, Differential GPS Update sharing system and a platform which allowed non-skilled spectators to control a live drone safely (shown at the 2015 NC State Fair).
Charles enjoys work with embedded software, neural networks, network applications and computational geometry in C/C++.
Charles received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from NC State University and has successfully defended his Computational Intelligence Master's thesis (PylonGPS Differential GPS update sharing software and HyperChord authenticated peer to peer network software).
